Morocco Move Against Senegal After AFCON Trophy Parade

The Morocco Bar Association has taken action against Senegal after the team paraded the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) trophy before their 2-0 win over Peru on Saturday.

According to reports, the Moroccan legal body has submitted a formal complaint to the FIFA Ethics Committee, accusing Senegal of breaching football regulations.

A Justice Commissioner was appointed to monitor activities during the match at the Stade de France. The official was tasked with documenting key details, including the organisers of the parade, branding elements, and the public display of the AFCON trophy.

The complaint is part of efforts to gather evidence for FIFA, with Morocco claiming that the Senegalese Football Federation went against provisions of the FIFA Disciplinary Code. The petition points to Article 15, describing the parade as an act of defiance after the Confederation of African Football overturned the final result and stripped Senegal of the title.

Moroccan authorities believe the public celebration shows a lack of respect for football governing bodies and could damage the integrity of the game.

Despite the controversy, Senegal went on to beat Peru 2-0 in the friendly, capping a tense day with victory on the pitch.

A full report is expected to be submitted after the match, and Senegal could now face possible disciplinary action if FIFA decides to pursue the case.
