Victor Boniface Set to Return Before End of Season

Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface could be back in action before the season ends after a long spell out with injury.
Boniface has had a difficult year. Last summer, he joined Werder Bremen on a season-long loan, a move that surprised many. He struggled for regular playing time in his first few months, and in December he suffered a knee injury.
By January, surgery was required, and he was expected to miss the rest of the season. He returned to his parent club, Bayer Leverkusen, to recover. Since then, Boniface has been working hard on his fitness, sharing images of gym sessions and personal training on the pitch.
Recently, he has even trained with Bayer Leverkusen’s U-19 team, showing signs of returning to full fitness. On Monday, Werder Bremen confirmed he had returned to the club to continue the final stages of his recovery.
Reports say Boniface will start individual training this week. If all goes well, he could join full team training as early as next week. Peter Niemeyer, Werder Bremen’s Head of Professional Football, said the club would take care to reintroduce him gradually but hopes he can play before the season ends.
A return in late April would be a major boost for Boniface, who was not expected back until next season. It comes at an important time for Werder Bremen, who are 14th in the Bundesliga, just four points above the relegation zone, with only seven games remaining. Boniface’s comeback could be key in their fight to stay up.
