Akwa Ibom State FA 2026: Heavens Race, Solo Wonders Set for Opening Day Showdown
The stage is set in Uyo for an exciting start to the Akwa Ibom State 2026 President Federation Cup, as Heavens Race Academy and Solo Wonders FC face off in the opening match on Sunday, April 12, at the Uyo Township Stadium.
Kick-off is scheduled for 4 p.m., with both sides eager to make a strong statement in what promises to be a competitive encounter between two ambitious academies.
The fixture brings together two of the four academies registered for this year’s competition, each with its own pedigree and growing reputation in grassroots football.
Heavens Race Academy will rely on their experience, having emerged winners of the maiden edition of the Obong Isong Isang Academies Championship last year. Their participation in the Nationwide League has also exposed the team to a higher level of competition, shaping a disciplined and organised side.
Solo Wonders FC, on their part, will be determined to prove their quality. With a possible semi-final clash against Akwa Ibom FA Cup champions at stake, the team understands the importance of making a strong start in the competition.

Speaking ahead of the tournament, the Chairman of the Akwa Ibom Football Association, Samuel Umoh, assured fans of an exciting competition, noting that the tournament will provide a platform for emerging talents to showcase their abilities and take steps towards professional football.
A total of six teams will compete in the male category, while two teams will feature in the female category, with finalists representing the state at the national stage.
