Marc-Andre ter Stegen ‘to become Barcelona’s number one’
German international Marc-Andre ter Stegen will reportedly be promoted to Barcelona‘s number one goalkeeper for the 2016-17 campaign.
The 24-year-old joined Barcelona from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2014, but has been forced to play second fiddle to Claudio Bravo in La Liga since arriving in Spain.
Ter Stegen is the Spanish side’s first-choice stopper in the Champions League and Copa del Rey, but it had been claimed that the German wanted to move on this summer in search of league football.
According to TV3, Barcelona, upon rejecting a bid from Manchester City, told Ter Stegen that he would be the league goalkeeper next season, leaving Bravo as number two.
Bravo is also currently being linked with a move to Manchester City as new boss Pep Guardiola considers replacing England international Joe Hart.
