MEN’S BASKETBALL: Diogu drops 15pts as Argentina beat Nigeria 94-66

Ike Diogu scored 15 for D’Tigers as Argentina trash Nigeria 94-66 on Sunday in the final Olympic men’s basketball game of the night.

For some reason 2015 AfroBasket MVP and one of Nigeria’s stars going to the Olympics, Chamberlain Oguchi started from the bench. After a sloppy and shaky start from D’Tigers that saw Argentina had 8-0 run, Ike Diogu got Nigeria’s first point to make it 2-11.

Argentina led by Facundo Campazzo increased their lead again in the 2nd quarter, at half time it ended Nigeria 31 Argentina 50. Ike Diogu was the best D’Tiger on the floor and he made 8 points, 4 rebounds.

Andy Ogide and Ebi Ere late surge couldn’t prevent D’Tigers from going down to the South American power house.

San Antonio Spurs’ Manu Ginobili who is appearing in his fourth Olympics dropped 12 points.

Nigeria next game will be against the European power house Lithuania on Tuesday.
