Salami, Nwanganga on song in Finland, Moses crashes with Chelsea
Gbolahun Salami and Kennedy Nwanganga were on song for their Finish clubs last night, Arsenal’s Kelechi Nwakali made his debut for his Dutch club and Chelsea’s Victor Moses lost at home in the Premier League’s Friday night football.
Gbolahan Salami, Azubuike Egwuekwe, Aliyu Abubakar and Paul Onobi were all in action for KuPS as they forced Lahti to a 1-1 draw at the Lahden Stadion (Lahti).
Gbolahan Salami scored a late penalty to save their Finnish club KuPS from defeat at Lahti yesterday, Lahti held on to a 39th minute opening goal until the 80th minute when Salami converted from the spot kick to level the scoreline. It was Salami’s 11th goal of the season.
In another Finnish league game, Nigerian Kennedy Nwanganga scored in the 17th minute as Inter Turku outscored leaders HJK 3-2 at home.
Faith Obilor also featured for Inter Turku. Nnamdi Oduamadi was a substitute for HJK with Vincent Onovo an unused sub.
In the EPL, Victor Moses appeared for the 50th time in a Chelsea shirt in their 2-1 loss to Liverpool on game week five in the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Friday night.
The 25-year-old achieved the milestone when he came off the bench in the 83rd minute, replacing Brazil star Willian. Mikel didn’t play as he watched from the stands while Ovie Ejaria of Liverpool was benched.
Kelechi Nwakali made a winning debut on Friday night as MVV Maastricht pipped Ajax cadets 1-0 in a Dutch second division league game.
The 18 year old who is on a season-long loan from Arsenal, came in for Verheijdt in the 92nd minute after MVV netted the winner five minutes from time.
