Africa Cup of Nations 2017 draw in full
The Africa Cup of Nations draw was held today and hosts Gabon, who are experiencing political segregation and a string of protests, will be hoping that their team can re-generate a sense of unity among its people.
The continuation of the aftermath of Gabon’s presidential elections means that violent scenes are still plaguing parts of the country. Organisers have had doubts over whether the tournament can actually go ahead.
President Ali Bongo renewed his leadership, narrowly defeating Jean Ping. However the competition, which is set to begin on 14 January, is likely to go ahead despite Ping supporters publicly venting their anger.
