LeBron excited about championship ceremony and World Series in Cleveland
“Is there any better way?” LeBron James is excited as the Cleveland Cavaliers prepare to accept their NBA championship rings on the same night the Indians host game one of the MLB World Series.
Cleveland is the place to be if you are a sports fan. After years of suffering, James and Co. will headline Tuesday’s championship ceremony after guiding the Cavs to their first title.
James – the NBA Finals MVP – will receive his ring before the season-opening game against the New York Knicks, while across Gateway Plaza, the Indians bid to end their 68-year World Series drought.
“It’s going to be great. From the fans’ perspective, is there any better way? I don’t know, maybe having an ice cream truck outside both arenas at the same time as well? Icing on the cake,” James joked with reporters on Thursday.
“We get to host the World Series and we get our rings on the same night at the same time. If we had a retractable roof, it’d probably be the loudest we’ve ever heard. It’s pretty special.
“We all know the excitement that’s going on in our town right now. As good as it is for players, on both sides, it’s even better for the fans. Our fans get an opportunity. People who have followed the Indians, covered the Indians, followed the Cavs, covered the Cavs for so many years, it’s great for them.”
World Series here we come!! Congrats Boyz!! @Indians #RallyTogether

James was a notable onlooker for game two of the American League Championship Series as the Indians went on to see off the Toronto Blue Jays 4-1.
“That’s part of my whole mindset is to inspire as many people as I can, from kids growing up in my inner city to professional athletes in our city,” James added.
“And if I can do that, if we can do that as a group, then, you know, that’s part of my DNA every day. That’s part of my walk of life.”
