Rose stars as Knicks overpower Trail Blazers, Pelicans extend streak
Derrick Rose and Kristaps Porzingis led the New York Knicks to a fifth consecutive NBA home win at the expense of the Portland Trail Blazers, while the New Orleans Pelicans won again.
Rose and Porzingis combined for 49 points as the Knicks overcame the Trail Blazers 107-103 on Tuesday.
The Pelicans made it three wins in a row after upstaging the Atlanta Hawks 112-94.
There were also wins for the Denver Nuggets and the Los Angeles Lakers.
ROSE SETTLES GAME IN NEW YORK
The star guard made sure of the win late on Tuesday.
With just over three minutes remaining, Rose nailed the go-ahead basket before sealing the deal with a jumper 6.8 seconds from the end.
Rose finished with 18 points, while Porzingis had 31 points in a stellar display for the Knicks (7-7).
The Trail Blazers (8-8) were led by Damian Lillard’s 22 points.
DAVIS GIVES PELICANS A SCARE
All-Star forward Anthony Davis suffered a bruised knee in the opening quarter and he was nowhere to be seen until the fourth to guide the Pelicans past the slumping Hawks.
He finished with 13 points, as Tim Frazier posted 21 points and 14 assists in a double-double display for the resurgent Pelicans (5-10).
Dennis Schroder and Kyle Korver each had 14 points for the Hawks (9-5), who crashed to a third successive defeat.
NUGGETS STUN BULLS
The Nuggets continued their fine home form against the Chicago Bulls thanks to rookie Jamal Murray and Will Barton.
Murray scored a season-high 24 points and Barton made a pair of free throws as the Nuggets shocked the Bulls 110-107.
It was Denver’s 10th consecutive win over the Bulls (9-6) on home court, with Chicago winless on their travels against the Nuggets (6-8) since 2006.
Meanwhile, the Lakers edged to a surprise 111-109 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.
