Season-best 44 for history maker LeBron
LeBron James dominated the headlines once again as the Cleveland Cavaliers superstar made NBA history against the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday.
A day earlier, James had moved ninth in the league’s all-time scorer’s list, overtaking Elvin Hayes in a victory over his former side the Miami Heat.
Against the Hornets, James netted a season-best 44 points, while becoming the first man in NBA history to reach 27,000 points with 7,000 rebounds and 7,000 assists.
Another landmark outing helped the Cavs to a 116-105 success, improving their record to 17-5 atop the Eastern Conference.
WHO ELSE?
After his milestone night against the Heat, James was at it again as he stung the Hornets with a monster haul.
James had nine rebounds and 10 assists to go with his 44 points, Kevin Love backing his team-mate up with 22 points of his own.
Kemba Walker impressed for the Hornets with his 24, but it was all about one man at the Quicken Loans Arena.
HARDEN HELPS HOUSTON
James Harden fell just short of a triple-double for the second night in a row as the Houston Rockets overcame the Dallas Mavericks 109-87.
On Friday against the Oklahoma City Thunder, Harden scored 21 points with nine rebounds and 12 assists, and it was a similar story a day later.
This time, Harden put up 18-9-16 in a comfortable victory. The beard is to be feared.
WADE BACK TO HAUNT THE HEAT
The Heat were left to rue another former player coming back to punish them on Saturday, as the Chicago Bulls’ Dwyane Wade put in a star performance.
Wade, who left the Heat for the Bulls this year, put up 28 points against his old side in a 105-100 triumph, his team-mate Jimmy Butler outdoing him with 31.
It was another case of a familiar foe for the Heat, who saw James net 27 points against them in Friday’s loss against the Cavs.

SPURS TOO GOOD FOR THE NETS, WARRIORS BEATEN
Meanwhile the San Antonio Spurs hammered the Brooklyn Nets 130-101, Kawhi Leonard top scoring with 30 points, and the Memphis Grizzlies overcame the Golden State Warriors 110-89, Steph Curry restricted to 17.
Elsewhere, there were wins for the Indiana Pacers, Denver Nuggets, Washington Wizards, Utah Jazz and Los Angeles Clippers.
WESTBROOKÂ IN THE HUNT FOR NUMBER EIGHT
Sunday’s action sees Russell Westbrook and the Thunder go up against the Boston Celtics. Westbrook is looking for his eighth straight triple-double.
He became the first man since Michael Jordan in 1988-89 to put up seven in a row in Friday’s win over the Rockets.
