Suns stun Spurs, Clippers beat Lakers as Jazz, Bulls win
The Phoenix Suns upstaged the San Antonio Spurs, while the Los Angeles Clippers earned bragging rights over the Los Angeles Lakers.
Devin Booker had a career-high 39 points as the Suns stunned the Spurs 108-105 in the NBA on Saturday.
In Los Angeles, DeAndre Jordan starred for the Clippers, who accounted for the Lakers 113-97.
The Philadelphia 76ers and their three-game winning streak was ended by the Washington Wizards, beaten 109-93.
SELLOUT CROWD IN MEXICO CITY
The NBA went to Mexico City and fans were treated to a significant upset thanks to rising star Booker.
Phoenix – now 13-2 this season – have the second-worst record in the western conference, while the Spurs have the second-best record at 31-9.
And Booker led the Suns to an unlikely win, after Phoenix lost to the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday, a game also held in Mexico City. The Suns are first NBA team to play two regular-season games in one season in the country.
JORDAN INSPIRES CLIPPERS
Jordan registered 24 points and 21 rebounds as the Clippers extended their winning streak to six games, the longest current run in the league.
Jordan shot 12 for 13 from the field, and he tipped in his only miss.
It was the second 20 point-20 rebound game of the season for Jordan and sixth of his career.
After closing the 2016 calendar year with six straight losses, including a 111-102 defeat to the Lakers on Christmas, the Clippers have yet to lose in 2017 and now sit at 28-14.
76ERS DENIED BY WIZARDS
Seeking a fourth consecutive win, the 76ers came unstuck against the Wizards.
John Wall scored 25 points to lift the Wizards past the visitors in Washington.
