WATCH: Dustin Johnson drives 322-yard par four … with two-iron!
We all know Dustin Johnson can hit the ball crazy distances, but the world’s number-one golfer took things to extremes on Saturday as he boosted his chances of victory at the WGC-Mexico Championship.
Johnson began round three of the event at Club de Golf Chapultepec three behind leader Rory McIlroy and wasted little time in trimming that deficit to a single stroke – driving the green at the par-four first to set up an eagle.
Now we’ve seen plenty of par fours driven before, of course. However, Johnson got the job done – on a hole spanning 322 yards – with a two-iron.
The opening hole at Chapultepec is downhill and the entire course is at high altitude, enabling players to hit the ball further than usual.
Even so, this is just insane.
Yes, that is an iron from 322 for @DJohnsonPGA.
The 20 ft for eagle was no problem after that. #TheseGuysAreGood#QuickHits pic.twitter.com/Aoq22psuyV
