LaVar Ball: Unlike Lonzo, Michael Jordan could never sell $495 shoes

LaVar Ball is opening his mouth again, this time to compare his son’s shoe line to Michael Jordan’s.

According to LaVar, the reason the NBA Hall of Famer and Chicago Bulls icon was not able to sell extremely expensive shoes like Lonzo Ball – who is expected to be one of the top picks in June’s draft – was because, “Michael Jordan couldn’t command [$495] for shoes.”

“Because he ain’t Lonzo Ball, that’s why,” LaVar Ball told Fox Sports 1’s Undisputed.

“Did he have his own brand coming in? It’s a new era called the Ball era.”

Lonzo Ball, along with his father, debuted the ZO2 shoe under the independent Big Baller Brand.

The shoes carry a $495 price tag. Also being sold was a version of the shoe with Lonzo’s signature for $995 and slide sandals for $220.

Naturally, many ridiculed the Balls for the high cost, but LaVar finds the cost justified.

It is the second time in recent weeks LaVar has referenced Jordan in comparison to his family.

In March, LaVar said in his prime he could have beaten six-time NBA champion and five-time MVP Jordan in a one-on-one game.
