2016-17 Champions League Final: Will Madrid stop Juventus from joining the exclusive list?
Having secured a place to fight for the right to become the first team to win the UEFA Champions League back to back last night, Real Madrid will have to be at their very best to stop Juventus who are also eying an exclusive list.
Prior to their 2-1 loss to their city rivals last night, Real Madrid and Juventus were the only teams left in the 2016-17 UEFA Champions League without tasting defeat, but goals from Saul and Griezmann meant the Italian giants are the only team left undefeated.
It has been a wonderful season for the Turin-based club and everyone associated with the club will be hoping they can go one step further and bring the title they have been close to winning in recent time and won last in 1996.
Just as must neutral fans would prefer Gianluigi Buffon caps his wonderful career winning the trophy with ‘the big ears’, many who are Cristiano Ronaldo fans would be rooting for the Portuguese who could make it 5-5 against Lionel Messi in their ballon d’Or race if he wins.
With a win in Cardiff on June 4th Juventus could join the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Barcelona, Milan, Ajax, Inter, Nottingham Forest, Marseille and Red Star Belgrade.
Juventus are the only team in the Champions League this season not to lose a single game:
