Rohr still in search of defensive cover
Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr is keen on strengthening his defence line ahead of Nigeria’s campaign at the World Cup next year in Russia.
Rohr is still searching for options but this time around an extra central defender who is similar in style to defence mainstay Leon Balogun appears to be the target of the Franco-German coach.
Although Kenneth Omeruo impressed in the game against Argentina which Nigeria won 4-2, Rohr appears not to be keen on him anymore as he is still searching for a fourth defender aside Chidozie Awaziem, William Troost-Ekong and Balogun.
The coach who played the 3-5-2 formation against Argentina on Tuesday in Nigeria’s 4-2 win is still in favour of playing with a back four in his favourite 4-3-3- formation used in Nigeria’s qualifying games.
A central defender with the ability to play from the back is now the target of the coach, who is also looking for a top striker to complement Odion Ighalo in attack in games where he wants to play with a lone striker.
