NPFL: Rangers Intl. commence screening of B team

In an effort to fulfil the dreams of several budding talents in the coal city and its surrounding states as well as actualize the mandate of Enugu state executive governor, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, to have talented youths of the zone defend the colours of Rangers in the nearest future, management of the coal city outfit shall commence recruitment for its B-team, Monday.

General Manager of the ‘Flying Antelopes’, Prince Davidson Owumi, made this revelation, Sunday, in an exclusive chat, stressing that the move was to ensure that budding talents in the South-East geo-political zone and other zones of the country are given opportunities to showcase their talents.
“I am indeed very glad to announce to the public the commencement of the screening exercise for our B-Team which kicks off on Monday, November 20, 2017 with Coach Olugbenga Ogunbote supervising the exercise. We are looking at talents within the ages of 15 – 19 years,” stated the astute football manager.
Owumi, a former chairman of NPL and Warri Wolves F.C stated further, “We are looking at having the best three players from the three senatorial zones of Enugu state to form the bedrock of the B-team with others from the neighbouring states forming 70% while the remaining 30% is reserved for very talented footballers from other parts of the country and world at large,”
On the reason for the exercise, Owumi said, “It is our hope to identify, nurture and develop local talents that will in the near future graduate seamlessly into the main team. Selected players will be on stipends while those of school age from other states would be enrolled into schools in Enugu where we have some understanding. Also, the governor of Enugu state, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has mandated the management to go into the nook and crannies of the state to identify, nurture and develop these talents into future stars. Already, three players from A-10 Padora F.C of Coal Camp have been pencilled down with some of the young players that could not make the cut when the screening for the main team ended, Friday, also been looked at.”
He said that management was also working on appointing an administrative secretary for the team who must be an ex-Rangers player that must have gone through the National Sports Institute to help inculcate the Rangers philosophy on the young players.
