Danilo is a waste of €30m – Marca

Maybe Danilo is struggling with the weight of the 30 million euros that Real Madrid paid for him last summer. Maybe he is struggling with a lack of match fitness after returning to the starting XI after missing seven games through injury.

Maybe he is finding it hard to compete with Carvajal, the man who was the club’s first-choice right-back over the past couple of seasons. Maybe it is all of this that has stopped him from making his mark down Real Madrid’s right wing. With very few exceptions, he has been ineffective both in defence and attack.

With Carvajal now back from injury, Danilo is going to have to up his game if he does not want to lose his place as first-choice right-back.
