Barcelona rising star picks up injury in win over Roma
Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto had to be taken off in the second half of the Catalan side’s hammering of Roma after a clash with the French player Vainqueur.
Roberto, clearly hurt, was unable to continue and was replaced by Adriano – who scored the sixth goal in the 6-1 after Neymar had missed a penalty.
The academy graduate from Reus is having an excellent season, so will be hopeful the challenge, which drew a foul and a yellow card for the Roma player, will not sideline him for too long.
He has played a right-back, a central midfielder and a right forward this season and has proved very useful for Luis Enrique.
At the moment, it’s not clear what the injury could be which forced Roberto off against the Serie A side, but initial thoughts are that it is nothing serious.
Now it’s a case of waiting to see what the club’s medical department will reveal in the coming hours
Andrew Iniesta, who played with a minor injury in Saturday’s Clasico win over Real Madrid, stayed on the bench for the whole game as a precaution, while Javier Mascherano didn’t make the squad due to a bruised thigh.
