Godín: “Suárez is the best striker in the world”

Diego Godínwas recently invited to take part in Movistar Plus’s Fiebre Maldini programme. The Uruguayan defender talked up the season that his countryman Luis Suárez is having, describing him as “the best number 9 in the world”.

“He has all the attributes a striker needs. Before joining Barça I already said that he could play for any big club around the world”, the Atlético centre-half said.

Godín also named his footballing idol: “Enzo Francescoli was who I looked up to. I played in midfield. I always loved him”.

The Atlético player also discussed the qualities that a centre-back needs: “A good centre-back needs to have personality, a lot of character, speed, a good jump and be able to read the game”.

The Uruguayan that won Atlético the league title two seasons ago with his goal at the Camp Nou recalled that “my mum is safely looking after the shirt I wore when we won the league, with the result and date written on it”.
