Barça sizing up Basel starlet Breel Embolo

Barcelona continue to scour the market in search of hot prospects. A prime example is Breel Embolo, Basel’s highly rated 18-year-old forward.

According to Sportbild, Barcelona sent scouts to watch the starlet in action against Fiorentina in the Europa League on Thursday.

Embolo, who has also been tracked by other European heavyweights such as Juventus, Arsenal and Manchester United, has chalked up 26 goals and 18 assists in 71 competitive appearances for Basel while still a teenager.

Many Spanish fans will remember Embolo for his performance against Real Madrid in the Champions League in November last year, when the Cameroon-born Switzerland international started and almost snatched a draw for the hosts at St. Jakob-Park, only to be denied by a superb Keylor Navas save.
