Unstoppable Awoniyi scores 7th goal in 8 games to save 9-man Mouscron against St.Truiden


Taiwo Awoniyi scored yet again to help Royal Excel Mouscron to a 1-1 draw against St.Truiden at the Stade Le Canonnier in a Belgian top flight game on Sunday.

The Liverpool loanee who was omitted from Super Eagles forthcoming games against Seychelles and Egypt and scored yet again to save nine-man Mouscron from an embarrassing home loss.

The visitors through Daichi Kamada drew the first blood in the 14th minute. But Taiwo Awoniyi who had scored in Mouscron last four games scored yet again to draw parity for his side.

Taiwo Awoniyi took advantage of Benson’s good ball to score his 7th goal in just 8th league games in the 33rd minute. The Nigerian spear-headed the comeback but couldn’t do much as Mouscron had Nikola Gulan and Frank Boya sent off in the 72nd and 79th minutes respectively for second bookable offenses.

With just nine players, Mouscron could only get a 1-1 draw against St.Truiden.
