Golden Eaglets qualify for FIFA U17 World Cup finals and AFCON 2019 semifinal
Olakunle Olusegun’s strike from the six-yard gave the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria a 1-0 win against the Angola U-17 at the Dares Salaam Stadium on Wednesday.
Nigeria who won 5-4 in the nine-goal thriller against hosts, Tanzania needed a win against Angola to secure their place in the AFCON U-17 last four and FIFA World Cup finals; and they didn’t fail to deliver.
The boys put up an improved performance in their clash against Angola as the defence and the new goalkeeper Stephen who replaced Shuaibu gave a good account of himself.
Eaglets could have easily scored five goals but it was Olakunle Olusegun’s penalty in the 20 minute of the game which settled the tie.
Nigeria now top the group with 6 points from two games, qualified for the semifinal and booked a place as in the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup to be staged later this year in Brazil.
