Hudson-Odoi: Why I turned down Bayern to sign long term contract at Chelsea
Chelsea youngster Callum Hudson-Odoi has opened up on the reason behind his contract extension at his boyhood club.
The teenager was subject of a big money move to German giants, Bayern Munich but eventually signed a long term extension after months of rejecting Chelsea’s offer.
Callum Hudson-Odoi since he returned from injury has been part of Chelsea’s first team the main reason he reportedly rejected contract extension.
But Callum Hudson-Odoi has revealed that the arrival of his boss a former Chelsea player and club legend influenced his decision.
‘Him coming here is a big feeling for all of us because he was talking before about how he likes young players and I had an idea in my head that if he comes here it will be great for us,’ he told BT Sport.
‘As soon as he came I thought ‘yep this is it’. I had a few chats with him and thought this is perfect, I want to stay here.’
Hudson-Odoi signed a five-year contract on a reported fee of £120,000 per week in September.
