  • How much is Odion Ighalo earning at Manchester United?
  • Why did Shanghai Shenhua agree the loan extension?
  • Do Manchester United have option to buy?

It is no more news that Odion Ighalo has extended his Manchester United loan deal until January 2021, but the details of the deal not revealed.

The details of the deal as now been revealed as the Nigerian continues to live his dreams of playing for his boyhood club for the next eight month.

Manchester United are reportedly going to pay £10.5m to keep Odion Ighalo until January 2021. The Red Devils are paying a £6m loan fee as well as £130,000 of his £300k-a-week salary.

According to Sportsmail, Shanghai Shenhua who were reluctant about sanctioning the loan extension, finally agreed to the extension because they had no other choice.

The uncertainties regarding the start date of the new Chinese Super League and Shanghai Shenhua’s failure to secure Odion Ighalo an emergency visa played huge roles in their decision to allow him stay at Manchester United for another eight months.

After China told foreign nationals late last week that there will be no visas allowing them to return to the country until October.

Emergency visas will not be granted for those involved in the Chinese Super League, meaning Ighalo would have been unable to play for Shanghai in the coming months, hence, the reason for them sanctioning the loan deal.

A statement from Shanghai reads: ‘In view of the uncertainty over the opening of the new Chinese Super League season and the uncertainty over foreign aid policy, Shanghai Greenland Shenhua and Manchester United have extended the loan for the Nigerian player Odion Ighalo.’

The extension will further give Odion Ighalo the time to enjoy his childhood dream while it lasts as there are no obligations for Manchester United to sign the former Watford striker on a permanent basis.

Odion Ighalo who currently earns £300k a week has a contract offer of £400k a week on his table from the Chinese club for an extension until 2024.

So far in Manchester United jersey, Odion Ighalo has scored four goals in a total of eight games, in fact, it is four goals in four games the Nigerian started.
