Ancelotti speaks on Iwobi new found form
Alex Iwobi was among the players singled out for praise by respected Italian football tactician Carlo Ancelotti in the wake of Everton’s 2-0 win against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Wednesday.
The former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich coach acknowledged that the Nigeria international is in his best form since his appointment as manager of the Toffees around a year ago.
After struggling to break into the starting lineup in the first eight games of the season, Ancelotti has been forced to look his way in the last one month or so due to his versatility.
Iwobi shone in his most recent game against the Foxes, even providing the assist for Everton’s crucial opening goal netted by Richarlison in the 21st minute.
“It’s his [Iwobi’s] best moment since I arrived [at Everton]. He is showing confidence, is really good in one-versus-one situations and is working hard,” Ancelotti told Everton TV.
“The key is to work hard – the team is working hard. I said to the players that we have to be satisfied for tonight but we have to work and we have to improve.”
Everton, who are fifth in the table with 23 points from 13 games, host Arsenal in their next Premier League game this coming Saturday.
