NPFL clubs get green light to commence new season.

On Wednesday the 23rd of December 2020, the league management committee, LMC of the Nigeria Professional Football League approved a further 7 stadia to play host to league games in the 2020/2021 NPFL season.

The LMC Chief Operating Officer, Salihu Abubakar announced that 7 of the stadia which had previously been earmarked for repairs and upgrades of their facilities during the last round of inspection in October, had finally been given the all clear by the LMC following the latest round of inspection.

The stadia include the Ifeanyi Ubah Stadium in Nnewi, where FC Ifeanyi Ubah play their home matches, Agege Stadium, home to MFM FC of Lagos, Akure Township Stadium, used by Sunshine Stars FC of Akure, Lafia Township Stadium, home to Nassarawa United FC. Others are the New Jos Stadium, where Plateau United FC call home, Ozoro Poly Stadium in Delta, home to Warri Wolves FC, and the famous Dan Anyiam Stadium, home to the Naze Millionaires, Heartland FC of Owerri.

A number of clubs have no option but to play their home games at any of the approved stadia, after their home grounds fell short of the standards set by the LMC.

With the settlement of the infrastructure, all that is left is for the league to commence, and Sunday December 27th 2020 has been announced as the date for the opening fixtures of the season.
