Goal-King Iheanacho buries Manchester United, sends Leicester to first FA Cup semis since 1982

Nigerian striker, Kelechi Iheanacho continued his rich vein of form as he scored twice and assisted one to lead Leicester City to their first FA Cup semi-final appearance since 1982 following a 3-1 quarterfinal win over Manchester United at the King Power Stadium.

Iheanacho opened the scoring, pouncing on a loose ball from Manchester United midfielder, Fred before rounding the goalkeeper Dean Henderson and tucking the ball into the empty net. The lead did not last long, as Manchester United drew level through English teenager, Mason Greenwood. Leicester were back in front in the second half as Iheanacho passed the ball to Youri Tielemans who picked up the ball 30 yards from goal and dribbled his way forward before unleashing a low strike that beat the keeper to make it 2-1. Iheanacho capped off a good performance with another goal, this time a header from an Albrighton cross to make it 3-1 to Leicester City.

Leicester City inflicted Manchester United’s first domestic away defeat since January 2020 with the result. Kelechi Iheanacho has become the outright African top scorer in FA Cup history, his 13 goals one more than the 12 scored by Didier Drogba in his Chelsea days. Iheanacho has now found the net 7 times in his last 4 games for Leicester City.
