Omoyele strike gives Enyimba important win as MFM fall to Jigawa Golden Stars

Enyimba did battle with Akwa Ibom-based Dakkada FC in their NPFL Matchday 18 encounter at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba. The 8-time NPFL champions emerged victorious thanks to an early strike from striker, Tosin Omoyele that saw them grind out a 1-0 win over the Chosen Ones. The goal came barely two minutes into the encounter as the home side, Enyimba did not allow their visitors to settle. It was a typical Fatai Osho goal, as it involved good interplay between a number of Enyimba players before the ball ended up at the feet of Omoyele in the 18 yard area for what was essentially a tap-in as he scored his fourth goal of the season. The People’s Elephant defended resolutely and picked up all three points, bouncing back well from their midweek defeat in Lagos to MFM FC. They are now only 3 points behind leaders, Kwara United with 3 games in hand.

Jigawa Golden Stars hosted MFM FC at their adopted home, the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna looking for a win to move them closer to the top half of the NPFL. The home side were able to pick up a 1-0 victory, condemning MFM to a crushing defeat after their midweek heroics. It took all of 30 minutes, but a goal eventually came in the game when on-loan Kano Pillars striker, Samuel Stone scored from the penalty spot for Jigawa Golden Stars as they picked up an important win at home.
