Verstappen breaks Italian Grand Prix jinx, secures first win of 2021
Claims 11th career Grand Prix win
Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen secured the victory at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Italy as he finished in first place in the European nation for the first time in his career. Lewis Hamilton finished in second place after he fell behind following a rare error, and Lando Norris finished in third place, completing the podium finishes.
Verstappen’s victory was his earliest ever in any Formula One season, and his first this year. The win puts him in second place on the standings with 43 points, one point behind leaders, Lewis Hamilton who has 44 points. Lando Norris is in third place with 27 points. They take their rivalry next to Portugal where the Portugal Grand Prix is set to take place as the season heats up from the beginning.
