Hazard thunderbolt ends Portugal Euro 2020 campaign

Czech Republic stuns Netherlands to reach quarterfinals

Belgium handed Portugal a 1-0 defeat via a splendid defensive performance and a brilliant strike from Thorgan Hazard in the 42nd minute of the encounter. Belgium started the game well and kept the ball moving nicely, with fit-again captain Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne both at the centre of their gameplay against a disciplined Portugal side marshalled at the back by Pepe. It took a brilliant swerving strike from the younger Hazard to open the scoring for the Red Devils in the 42nd minute. Belgium lost both Eden Hazard and Kevin De Bruyne to injury in the second half, but were able to hold on for the win and book a place against Italy in the quarterfinals.

Czech Republic defeated the Netherlands 2-0 at the Puskas Arena in Budapest thanks to two second-half goals in a complete performance. Juventus defender Matthijs De Ligt received a straight red card in the 55th minute before Tomas Holes bundled home the opener for the less-fancied Czech Republic in the 68th minute. In-form striker Patrick Schick was on the end of a Holes pass to double the advantage of the Czechs with his fourth goal of the tournament in the 80th minute following a flat Dutch performance. Czech Republic advance to the quarterfinals, where they will face Denmark for a place in the last four.
