Akwa-Nasarawa to do battle in top-of-the-table NPFL Matchday 30 clash

Rangers, Abia Warriors in Oriental derby as relegation battle heats up

The midweek Matchday 30 clashes of the 2020/21 NPFL season are set to hold on Wednesday June 30th and Thursday, July 1st.

On Wednesday, Rangers International will host struggling Abia Warriors at the Cathedral, the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu. Both sides have not been at their best in recent weeks as Abia Warriors coach Imama Amapakabo returns to the ground where he won his only NPFL title till date when he led the Flying Antelopes to glory in 2016.

In a relegation fight, Sunshine Stars will host Wikki Tourists at the Ondo State Sports Complex, knowing that another defeat may prove dangerous to their aspirations this season. Wikki are currently in 15th place, only five points outside the relegation zone.

Enyimba will be looking to get their title pursuit on track when they host relegation-threatened Warri Wolves at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba. The People’s Elephant will be looking to pick up maximum points from the game and remain within touching distance of the top of the table.

Lobi Stars will be looking to bounce back from their defeat to Wikki Tourists at the weekend when they host Heartland at the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi. Heartland won their last match and look like they are in a good position to pick up an away result.

MFM FC will host title-chasing Kano Pillars at the Soccer Temple in Agege as they look to bounce back from their defeat to Heartland and put a dent on the title aspirations of Kano Pillars with a good result at home.

FC Ifeanyi Ubah and Adamawa United will lock horns at the Ifeanyi Ubah Stadium in Nnewi in a relegation six-pointer. A win for either side will move them closer to safety as both of them are marooned in the relegation zone at present.

Jigawa Golden Stars will host Katsina United in their NPFL Matchday 30 clash at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna. Jigawa Golden Stars lost their last game against the less-fancied Adamawa United, while the visiting Katsina United picked up a famous victory over the league’s leaders at the weekend. Both teams are separated by just a point on the table.

Rivers United will play host to Plateau United at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt. Rivers United will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing defeat to Nasarawa United, and Plateau United will be aiming to become the first side to notch a win in Port Harcourt this season.

On Thursday, Dakkada FC will take on Kwara United at the Nest of Champions in Uyo as they look to derail the title ambitions of the Afonja Warriors. Kwara United are aware that an away win at this stage of the season can be priceless to their aspirations. The match will kick off by 2 pm.

Akwa United will host the clash of the round when they take on Nasarawa United in a winner takes all clash at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo. A win for either side will put them comfortably on top of the table with only eight games left in the 2020/21 NPFL season.
