Table Tennis GOAT Ma Long beats Fan Zhendong to set Olympics record

Ma Long has become the first ever player to win a back-to-back Olympics gold medal after beating his Fan Zhendong in the men’s tennis single final on Friday.

The World number three entered the final match on the bounce of a stressful game 7 win against Germany’s Dima Ovtcharov.

But he was unfazed as he won 4-2 against his compatriot Fan Zhendong who is the world number one, and the highest ranked player at the Olympics.

Ma Long who agreed that technology and the youthfulness of his competitors is making it difficult for him has now won more first place medals than any player in history.

He has 2 gold medals, 3 World Championship titles, 2 World Cup, 28 ITTF World Tour titles, 6 ITTF World Tour Grand Finals, 1 Asian Games, 3 Asian Championships, 4 Asian Cup, 1 World Junior Championships and 1 Asian Junior Championships.
