Why Egypt have more to worry about than Nigeria – Musa
Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa is confident that Egypt, Nigeria’s first opponents at the 2021 African Cup of Nations have more to worry about when they face on Tuesday.
The former Leicester City forward understood the threat that Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah pose to the Eagles but said Nigeria will pose more threat to the Pharaohs.
Musa who was one of the two players in the current squad when Nigeria won the title in 2013 said Nigeria have Samuel Chukwueze and other dangerous wingers who would be difficult for Egypt to handle.
“Definitely, I know everybody will be talking about Salah but if you look at our own side we have a lot of players they would be worried about.
“Definitely we don’t have to think about Salah, they have to think about own players. They only talk about Salah but we have Chukwueze, a lot of players from the wings that are more dangerous, so their own defenders too will be thinking about us.”
He also talked about how the team has matured and more experienced than they were in the last tournament promising that Eagles will make Nigerians proud.
“Experience is going to help us a lot. In Egypt we had only two players that had been in the AFCON, me and Kenneth Omeruo, and then we finished in the third position,” Musa said.
“With that experience that we have, this is not World Cup but African football, you have to keep that fantastic football at home, you just have to go all out.
“With the experience that we have in Egypt I know we are going to do what everyone is expecting us to do.”
Nigeria who landed in Cameroun in the early hours of today will reportedly play a friendly game against Cotton Sports to get ready for their first AFCON game against Egypt on Tuesday.
