Day 10 Wrap: Mukansanga create history, Gabon advance as Comoros send Ghana out

Rwanda referee Salima Mukansanga and Comoros grabbed the headlines on the 10th day of the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.

The 35-year-old became the first ever female referee at AFCON when she officiated the game between Guinea and Zimbabwe.

Salima Mukansanga was totally in charge as Zimbabwe secured a 2-1 win against Guinea on Tuesday in their Group B encounter.

In the other Group B game, Malawi and Senegal played a goalless draw.

Senegal who scored just one goal finished top of the group with 5 points, Guinea 2nd with 4 points, Malawi 3rd with 4 points and are in consideration for a place as one of the best losers and Zimbabwe 4th with 3 points.

A fixture in Group C saw debutants Comoros secure a famous 3-2 win against 4-time champions Ghana who were eliminated in the group stages.

While Ghana and the rest of Africa are left unimpressed by the result, Arsenal fans will be glad they will have one of their star players back in Thomas Partey.

Gabon and Ghana played a 2-2 draw in their encounter as the Panthers continued their impressive run without their captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who was sent back to his club.

Morocco finished top of the group with 7 points, Gabon 2nd with 5 points, Comoros 3rd with 3 points and Ghana 4th with 1 point.
