Guinea President Mamady Doumbouya forgives team, demands AFCON refund

President Mamady Doumbouya has reportedly asked the National Elephant to refund the money spent on the team following their exit from AFCON.

Guinea were sent packing at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations by Gambia in an event that shocked many.

President Mamady Doumbouya was reportedly unhappy and blasted his team for their performance.

“You have not showed pride or hunger to win.

“A disgraceful performance, you have let down 13 million Guineans,” said the president on Wednesday.

President Mamady Doumbouya on Thursday reportedly explained that the storng warning he gave the team going to AFCON was to encourage them.

However, he is asking for a refund since the money given the team was for them to win but they got knocked out in the round of 16.

“President Mamady Doumbouya has forgiven the team,” says Saddick Adams.

“He said his ultimatum was just to encourage them. He understands team building takes time.

“But, the money given to the team covered Quarter Final, Semi-final and final games and that must be returned to the state coffers.”
