‘I don’t agree with animal cruelty but is Zouma’s offence worse than racism?’ – Antonio
Michail Antonio has thrown his weight behind his teammate Kurt Zouma who could be sacked and or face jail terms of cat cruelty.
The French defender posted a video of himself kicking one of his cats and this has attracted a lot of sticks on his part and his club West Ham.
Kurt Zouma has lost his endorsement deals with Adidas who terminated their alliance with the defender after the video surfaced online.
He has also been fined 250k pounds for his two weeks salary, while Vitality a company owned by South African Neville Koopwitz pulled the plug on their partnership with Westham for not punishing him enough.
150,000 people have signed petitions for legal action to be taken against him and a number of people are now pushing for him to be sacked.
But his teammate Michail Antonio believes the treatment meted on the former Chelsea player is getting too much asking if they did the same to those who racially abused black players.
“I’ve got a question for you,” Antonio said to a Sky Sports reporter. “Do you think what he’s done is worse than racism?
“I’m not condoning a thing that [Zouma] has done. I don’t agree with what he’s done at all.
“But, there’s people that have been convicted, caught for racism, and have played football afterward. They got punished, they got an eight-game punishment or something like that.
“But people are now calling for people to be sacked, for them to lose their livelihood. I’ve just got to ask this question to everyone out there: Is what he’s done worse than what the people have done that [have been] convicted for racism?”
