African World Cup play-off first leg: Away wins for Algeria & Tunisia
As Nigeria and Ghana share the spoils in Kumasi
The first leg of the African World Cup play-off was played across the continent today.
Ten countries were action with five aggregate winners representing the continent at the summer FIFA World Cup.
DR Congo 1-1 Morocco
The first game saw 10-man Dr. Congo playing a 1-1 draw against Morocco in Kinshasa.
Yoane Wissa 12th minute strike put the home team in front but Tarik Tissoudali equalized for Morocco 22 minutes after Ryan Mmaee 54th penalty miss.
DR Congo were reduced to 10-man after Ngonda Muzinga received his second yellow.
Cameroon 0-1 Algeria
Rigobert Songs Indomitable Lions were beaten in their stadium by Islam Slimani’s 40th-minute strike.
Algeria take a 1-0 advantage ahead of the second-leg clash.
Mali 1-1 Tunisia
Moussa Sissako scored an own goal in the 36th minute and received a red card in the 40th minute as Tunisia secured a tough 1-0 win against Mali.
Abdoulaye Doucoure made his debut for Mali in the game.
Egypt 1-0 Senegal
In a repeat fixture of the 2021 AFCON, Egypt was aided by an own goal from the 4th-minute own goal from Saliou Ciss.
Ghana 0-0 Nigeria
The much anticipated Jollof derby ended in a barren draw.
