Giannis Antetokounmpo confirms legacy as one of NBA’s all-time greats

Becomes Milwaukee Bucks' all-time leading scorer

Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo further stamped his legacy as one of the all-time greats by becoming his franchise’s all-time leader for points in the NBA.

Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks to a first NBA title in 50 years in the 2020-21 season, delivering a monstrous performance in the playoffs despite suffering a near-horrific injury in the final series against the Phoenix Suns that saw him named the Finals MVP.

Giannis Antetokounmpo passed the all-time scoring record for the Bucks in their 120-119 OT win over the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday. His record-breaking shot was a three pointer from beyond the arc with only 18 seconds left in the game to tie it at 110-110. The three-point shot took the Greek Freak to 14,212 points, surpassing the previous record of 14,211 points held by the great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He finished the game with 44 points for the Bucks.

Antetokounmpo is already a great in Milwaukee, having remained in the franchise since they drafted him in 2013. He delivered a title to them and has been named MVP on two occasions in 2019 and 2020. He was also included on the NBA75 list of the 75 best players in the history of the NBA.

Giannis Antetokounmpo has his legacy intact in the Milwaukee Bucks where he now leads them all-time in points and blocks. He is second all-time for assists and rebounds, and fifth all-time for steals.
