Nigerians Abroad: Onuachu, Iheanacho & Sanusi included in top five

Paul Onuachu with three goals star player of the week

Calvin Bassey, Leon Balogun, and Joe Aribo were involved for Rangers against Celtics in one of the oldest football rivalries over the weekend but ended on the losing side.

The game which could determine the winner of the Scottish title handed visiting Celtics a 6-point lead atop the league.

While those Super Eagles players were on the losing side, there were other players who were on the winning side and a few who were on target over the weekend.

SportsRation highlights five of the best Nigerian players from the weekend games played across the world.

5. Zaidu Sanusi (Porto 3-0 Santa Clara)

Zaidu Sanusi scored the third goal as FC Porto trashed Santa Clara 3-0 in Portugues top-flight league game on Monday.

4. Moffi Terrim (PSG 5-1 Lorient)

Super Eagles striker Terem Igobor Moffi scored his fifth Ligue 1 goal of the season as his club FC Lorient were trashed 5-1 by PSG on Sunday.

It was Moffi’s second goal in three appearances against PSG in his career but it was Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, and Neymar who stole the show by scoring in the same game for the first time ever for Paris Saint-Germain.

3. Odion Ighalo (Al Hilal 2-1 Al Shabab)

Odion Jude Ighalo continues to punish his former club Al Shabab scoring his third goal in two games against them since leaving them in February.

The Nigerian striker scored the extra-time winner to complete a 2-1 comeback win against Al Shabab which earned Al Hilal a Kings Cup final berth on Sunday.

2. Kelechi Iheanacho (Manchester United 1-1 Leicester City)

Kelechi Iheanacho continued his good form against Manchester United after scoring in Leicester City’s 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

The Super Eagles striker could have also got an assist in the game but after VAr consultation the goal scored by Maddison was ruled out.

Kelechi has now had hands in 7 goals (4 goals, 3 assists) in 10 games against Manchester United.

1. Paul Onuachu (Genk 5-0 Eupen)

Paul Onuachu was the star player of the week scoring three goals for Genk as they trashed Eupen 5-0 on Sunday.

The first two goals were penalties while the last goal was a great goal.

Paul Onuachu has now scored 19 league goals for Genk in the Jupiler League this season.
