Chaker Alhadhur’s jersey enters FIFA Museum

Fédération Internationale de Football Association has honoured Comoros defender turned goalkeeper Chaker Alhadhur for his heroics at the 2021 African Cup of Nations.

Chaker Alhadhur who played as an outfield player in Comoros’ first three group games was called upon to play in the goal post in their round of 16 games and he didn’t disappoint.

Recall that the defender was given the mandate to man the goalpost after Comoros three goalkeepers were ruled out for various reasons including COVID and injuries.

Comoros Island despite playing one more short gave a good account of themselves against the hosts Cameroon in the 2-1 defeat and Chaker Alhadhur played a huge role.

Chaker Alhadhur became an internet sensation for his role and was praised by all for standing up for his team and getting counted when needed.

He wore a goalkeeper kit with his name on the back along with his usual number 3 taped over the number 16 and Comoros were slammed a $5000 fine by CAF for “failure to respect the jersey numbers already registered on the CMS system by the player”.

But FIFA now has decided to honour Chaker Alhadhur’s heroics by keeping the jersey in their museum.
