Moses Simon helps Nantes win first title in 21 years

. Nantes to play in first European Competition in 18 years

Moses Simon has led his French club Nantes to their first title in 21 years after securing a 1-0 win against Nice in the Coupe de France final game played at Stade de France on Saturday.

Captain Ludovic Blas scored the only goal of the game from the spot-kick at the restart of the second half to hand the less fancied Nantes the title over Nice.

There was not much to pick from both teams in the first half as they trod with caution but Nice who are higher in the Ligue 1 table had the better chances.

Super Eagles attacker Moses Simon was, however, a constant threat on the left and right of Nantes attack each time the Les Canaris attack.

Moses Simon only played for 75 minutes as Nantes secured the 1-0 win and for their fourth French Cup title having previously won in 1979, 1999, and 2000.

This is Nantes major trophy since they won Ligue 1 in 2001. The win has confirmed Nantes place in the Europa League next season.

It has been 18 years since Nantes played in any European competition.
