WAFU B Tourney: Flying Eagles to play Benin or Cote d’Ivoire in the semis
Nigeria’s U-20 national team, the Flying Eagles will play the Benin Republic or Cote d’Ivoire in the semifinal of the ongoing WAFU B Tourney.
It is now certain that the Flying Eagles will play any of the Benin Republic or Cote d’Ivoire in the last four after the completion of Group A games.
The Benin Republic finished top of group A while Cote d’Ivoire finished second in the group which makes any of the nations a potential last-four opponents.
The Flying Eagles who had completed their group games currently have 4 points from 2 games but are unsure if they will finish top of their group.
The game between Ghana and Burkina Faso will determine where Nigeria finish on the table as:
- A win for Ghana, Nigeria top group B, and play Cote d’Ivoire in the semis
- A draw, Nigeria top group B, and play Cote d’Ivoire in the semis
- A win below 3-0 for Burkina Faso, Nigeria top group B, and play Cote d’Ivoire in the semis
- A win with 3 or more goals margin for Burkina Faso, Nigeria finish 2nd in group B and play the Benin Republic in the semis
All eyes will be on the clash between Ghana and Burkina Faso at GSK Stadium today.
Only the two finalists at the WAFU B Championship in Niamey will be eligible for next year’s Africa U20 Cup of Nations, already scheduled in Egypt for February/March.
