Liverpool help Chelsea get £20m bonus after 2022 Champions League final defeat
Chelsea will get a cash windfall after Real Madrid defeated Liverpool in the 2022 Champions League final on Saturday night.
The London club will earn around £20m as part of the clause included in the deal that took Eden Hazard to Real Madrid in 2019.
Real Madrid signed the Belgian wizard from Chelsea in the summer of 2019 in a deal with an initial £88 million cash payment, with further potential payments taking the price to a whopping £130m.
The transfer may not has worked as planned for both Eden Hazard and Real Madrid but Chelsea will be activating one of the clauses inserted in the deal.
A second-half goal from Vinicius Junior and a historic display from another former Chelsea player Thibaut Courtois won the tie for the Spanish giants.
