Sadiq Umar 27-goal contribution helps Almeria win La Liga 2 title and promotion to La Liga
Sadiq Umar has helped his La Liga chasing Almeria secure a place in the Spanish top-flight league after helping them secure the much-needed point on the last day and contributing 27 goals.
On the last day of the season, Almeria needed a point against Kenneth Omeruo’s Leganese and with Sadiq Umar’s help, they got the needed point.
Almeria had to come back twice on Sunday on the last day at Leganese, the home team scored first through Borja Garces but Rodrigo Ely restored parity for Almeria.
Again, Leganese retook the lead through Super Eagles defender Kenneth Omeruo and this time it was Sadiq Umar who restored parity for Almeria to earn the much-needed point.
Almeria ended the season with 81 points from 42 games same as second-place Real Valladolid but Sadiq Umar and his team finished due to their superior goal difference.
Rojiblancos’s promotion back to the top flight wouldn’t have been possible if not for Sadiq Umar who scored 18 league goals and assisted 9 goals for a total of 27 goals contribution.
And Umar Sadiq reacted to helping his team gain promotion into the Spanish top-flight league.
“This is a fulfilled season for me. Winning the league and gaining promotion was my ultimate target with this team before any personal records.”Sadiq said after the game.
“I’ve been the highest goal scorer of my team in the last two seasons and scoring this important goal against Leganes will forever remain fresh in my memory,” he said.
