” Success has many friends “. Ghana’s testimony as Williams, Lamptey, Salisu switch allegiance.

The popular adage of success attracting many friends is Ghana’s testimony following the switch of allegiance by Inaki Williams, Tariq Lamptey and Mohammed Salisu.

Stephan Ambrosius, Patrick Pfeffer and Ransford Yeboah are also qualified to represent the Black Stars of Ghana as they prepare for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

 

One man who will effectively explain the difference Qualification for the FIFA World Cup has brought to his discussions with the stars is the Ghana Football Association President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku .

 

The GFA President had at various times in the past two years held discussions with this players about representing the country of their birth but on each occasion received lukewarm responses .

 

Southampton defender Mohammed Salisu for one has been courted by the Black Stars for three years.

Most recently during the build up to the 2021 AFCON,  GFA boss Simeon Okruaku’s advances were turned down by the defender who told the Federation representatives he has no intention of playing for Ghana .

 

According to Salisu, the country had abandoned him during the trying early years of his career and so doesn’t deserve his services.

 

Ghana suffered an agonizing group stage exit at the 2021 AFCON and were given underdog tag when drawn with Nigeria for the 2022 FIFA World Cup Playoff.

 

A 0-0 first leg result in Ghana was followed by a 1-1 return leg score in Abuja to gift Ghana the World Cup ticket on away goals over arch rivals Nigeria.

 

Armed with the Success , the Ghana Football Association reopened talks with Atletico Bilbao forward Inaki Williams, Brighton and Hove Albion right back Tariq Lamptey and Southampton’s Mohammed Salisu.

 

Like a rich groom , The Ghanaian Football Federation arrived with the opportunity of starring at the Worlds biggest footballing event the ‘ FIFA World Cup ‘ . This time, the offer was one every footballer dreams of and so the new Bride’s of Ghanian football in quick succession said YES to the Black Stars.

 

An elated Ghana Football Association President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku took to Twitter to announce the success in discussions with acknowledgements for everyone who contributed to it’s fulfillment.

 

The additions are Massive reinforcements to Otto Addo’s options ahead of the World Cup though there are still questions about how much commitment this lads will invest while representing the Black Stars.

 

Like friends who come around during good times, the motivation could be the bounty of success which the World Cup appearance represents. What happens when the success disappears is a mystery only time will reveal .

 

Ghana will contend with heavyweights Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea In Group H as they attempt to better their Quater Final finish in 2010 .

 

Success is Good. This writer is hoping  Inaki Williams, Tariq Lamptey and Mohammed Salisu will contribute positively to helping the Black Stars achieve success at the World Cup for Ghanaian Football and African Football at large .
