Waldrum expects Nigeria to pass Cameroon test after excelling against Ghana and Ivory Coast

Super Falcons head coach Randy Waldrum has said he is expecting his girls to subdue the Indomitable Lioness of Cameroon after excelling against the Black Queens and Les Éléphantes.

Nigeria had to go through Ghana and Ivory Coast in the last qualifying stages before picking a ticket to the 2022 Women Africa Cup of Nations.

It was not an easy task but Nigeria recorded a 2-1 aggregate win against Ghana (won 2-0 in the first leg and lost 1-0 in Ghana) and a 3-0 aggregate win against Ivory Coast (2-0 in Nigeria, 1-0 in Abidjan).

Having guided the Super Falcons past those difficult opponents during qualifications, Randy Waldrum believes his girls would get the job done.

“And I will make this argument that we’ve probably had the most difficult job getting to this point even before this tournament

“You know having to play a very good from Ghana, and a very good team from the Ivory Coast because both teams would have been good world cup representatives from Africa as well.

“So nothing has been easy for us and we’ve taken a difficult path and our players have passed the test and we expect them to do that again.”

Nigeria will play Cameroon for a place in the semifinal where Morocco is waiting and a ticket for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The quarterfinal game between Nigeria and Cameroon will be played today at Stade Mohammed V, Casablanca at 18:00 (West African Time).
