The Atlas Lionesses of Morocco coach Reynald Pedros has dedicated his side’s semifinal 5-4 penalty win against the Super Falcons of Nigeria to the fans.
Hosts, Morocco, beat Nigeria only on penalty after playing 50 minutes of action with two numerical advantage over the Super Falcons.
Nigeria were by far the best team on the night until Halimat Ayinde and Rasheedat Ajibade were sent off in the second half to swing the game in favoour hosts.
The Super Falcons scored the first goal of the game even when they were reduced to 10 players, Morocco pegged back and after 120 minutes of action, it ended 1-1.
And coach Reynald Pedros who watched his side laboured in vain for 50 minutes despite playing two players more than Nigeria, thanked the home fans for their support.
A total of 45,562 spectators were in attendance at the Complexe Prince Moulay Abdellah with their laser lights to power the Atlas Lions on to the next round.
“I want to thank the fans, the atmosphere helped us a lot it was amazing they were the 12th, 13th or even 14th player tonight.
“We dedicate this qualification to them.”
Morocco will play South Africa in the final of the 2022 WAFCON while Nigeria and Zambia for the 3rd position.
