Shehu Abdullahi released at Levski Sofia
Nigerian international Shehu Abdullahi has been released by Bulgarian club Levski Sofia SportsRation reports.
Shehu Abdullahi joined Levski in September 2022 as a free agent after leaving Omonia Nicosia and was reportedly the clubs highest paid player.
The Super Eagle appeared nine (9) times for Levski Sofia before parting ways with the club on January 1, 2023.
On reasons for the sudden termination of the versatile defenders contract, a source close to the player told a publication that the Bulgarian club fired Abdullahi for salary-related reasons.
“I think it’s salary related,” the source said.
“He is back in Nigeria now and hopes to make a move soon.
“One thing is certain, He won’t be without a team for long, and as a free player he will appeal to several teams.” The source concluded.
Born in Sokoto and one with a large fan base in Nigeria, Shehu represents the Nigerian national team with over 41 caps.
A rich International profile, Shehu Abdullahi has also turned out for Nigeria’s Under 20 and Olympic Eagles teams.
