Onazi dumps Casertana for East Riffa
29 years old Nigerian Midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has joined Bahrain first division side East Riffa from Casertana.
A short spell with the Italian Serie D side will end as Onazi has chosen another experience in Bahrain with East Riffa.
East Riffa manager Florin Motroc will be happy to welcome the experienced 52-cap Nigerian international to his team, the Al Manamā based outfit currently placed 10th on the 12 team league standings.
Onazi could make his debut when East Riffa face Al Mouri at the 5000 capacity Al Ahli Stadium on January 15, the Midfielder fit as seen during his training with Nigerian side Remo Stars last week.
Recall that Onazi joined Casertana in August 2022 but his move to the Serie D side will not last it’s 1-year length.
Onazi in his peak years starred for Italian Serie A side Lazio until 2016. Since leaving the Serie A outfit, Onazi has journeyed across various leagues the latest his adventure with East Riffa in Bahrain.
The length and financial details of the deal are undisclosed .
Nigerian players like Akarandut Orok and Prince Aggreh have previously represented East Riffa.
Orok recently retired from active football to take up an assistant manager role at NPFL club Akwa United FC while Aggreh who left the club in 2021 is playing for Al Khadiya club.
