Breaking: Frank Lampard fired as Everton manager

Former Chelsea and Manchester City midfielder Frank Lampard has been sacked from his job as Everton manager after failing to impress with the Toffees. The former Chelsea manager has seen the side drop to 19th place in the Premier League with only 15 points after the first half of the season.

Lampard was hired by Everton on the 31st of January 2022 after he was let go by Chelsea in January 2021 following performance-related issues. The former midfielder replaced another former Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez at the helm of affairs at Goodison Park with the club hovering above the relegation zone. He helped the Toffees avoid relegation from the Premier League thanks to a final day win over Crystal Palace.

Lampard was in charge of Everton for 44 games and managed to win only 12 of those games, losing 24 of them. The 44-year-old manager had a 27% win rate in his time at Goodison Park and his team’s total of three league wins this season is the lowest of any team in the top four tiers of English football.

Everton are in 19th place in the Premier League following a run of eight defeats in nine games. The Toffees have not won a league game since October despite having a number of quality players. Lampard’s disastrous spell at the club came to an end when the board unanimously decided to part ways with him following a 2-0 defeat at West Ham at the weekend.
